Sometimes I sit and wonder how some bloggers do it. I watch these amazingly busy bloggers get sponsors so they can go to this or that blog conference. (I just paid the one time I went. ha!)
I see bloggers guest posting on other blogs all over the internet while still posting on their own blogs every single day! Wow! How do they do it?!!
I see ads and giveaways and hear of the happenings of the hoppin’ blogs and bloggers. I see ladies joining up with this new blog and that new on-line mag. and sometimes I feel extremely… little and out of the loop. The funny thing is honestly, I don’t even care… but sometimes I wonder if I’m supposed to! ha! Do you know what I mean?
Truth is – I’m just not structured enough for that type of blogging. Honestly, it stresses me out. I’m a wild stallion! A free spirit! Okay, well, at least a busy mom who likes to play more than I like to work.
I see nothing wrong with business blogging. In fact I think it’s totally cool to be able to blog as a business – from home (with your kids crawling all over you and yelling across the room!). I just don’t think I’m cut out for all of that. (Well, the part about the kids crawling all over you and yelling – yeah, I am cut out for that.)
I like blogging because:

4. Yes, I also love showing off my amazing kids. ha!! Nah, not really! (Okay, I DO think they’re pretty darn special though.) BUT, in sharing my love for my children and showing some of our activities together, I hope I’m inspiring good relationships and dedication of time (and effort) to your precious loved ones.

That’s about it – yeah, that’s the purpose of my blogging. It may not be a great reason according to some, but it’s what I have to offer.

I believe bloggers should search for and understand their purpose in spending time keeping a blog. Since blogging can take precious time away from our families, I feel it’s important to make sure we have a calling – a purpose… that there IS value in what we do (for us and for those reading).

Okay – I feel better now. Sometimes I just gotta say what’s going through my curly head.
Love,
Lynnette

PS Oh, and you wanna hear something funny I did the other day? I tweeted about this soup I made in my Blendtec. I listed the ingredients and then hashtagged it #weirdlywonderful. Then I ate another bite of the soup and deleted my tweet! ha ha!!!! Was definitely weird but not so wonderful after all! ha!!!

I kinda think that is the whole purpose behind blogging. To do it how you need to do it. It is after all YOUR blog. No one else is in charge of it. So why not do it how it makes you happy.
I realize that I am pretty new to this blogging world but that is why I started up. I was doing something for myself. I am really good at being me. LOL
I also want to say, even if you are not blogging all the time I am often uplifted by your posts and thoroughly enjoying reading or watching (missing your vlogs) each one. I love feeling like I am talking to you in the same room, even when we are a country apart.
So all in all in this wordy comment I just want to say Thank you for being you!!
And thank YOU Sherri for reading and offering ME a word of encouragement.
Love,
Lynnette
I second what Sherry said!
….and in the vernacular of our children, “You are awesome and I love you!”.
Purpose and encouragement are words I use to to describe what your blog is to me and for me.
Thanks Pickles! I love you.
Woops sorry Sherri, I misspelled your name! My apologies.
i blog because I like to. I like to write my thoughts down. I like conversation. I like to hear opposite thoughts. I don’t FB (as an honor to my wife) or Twitter (who has the time?) but blogging I can and do enjoy. Making money? Never thought about it (except for the links of something I believe in). I quit trying to reach the masses and impress people. In the grand scheme of things who really cares and how long will it last? For the record: Kyle might be a tad bit prejudiced. LOL And you may say what going through your curly head but what does a person do who has no hair? Oh, I know. My thought process just burned it all away.
You don’t FB to honor your wife. There’s a story in that statement!
I much prefer Twitter to Facebook because I can do it in a couple of seconds! ha! Seriously, much quicker way to say something (or read something) than Facebook!
I can see why you like blogging. You’re a good communicator.
Yes, Kyle IS probably a bit prejudiced – just as he should be. ha!
You can say what’s going through your shiny head? ha ha!!! Shiny is good, right? Yeah.
so am right where you are. sometimes i am a little jealous and then think, Hmm wonder if i could keep up with it. although man it would be nice to review some new kitchen appliance or maybe a maid service.
Can i just tell you i love LOVE the curly hair on him. i have 6 blessings and only one has my red curly hair.
HA! Yeah, I’m thinking the same thing about a food processor.
Truth is, I have been blessed to give away some pretty amazing things (Kitchen Aid Mixer, Champion Juicer, Oreck Vacuum Cleaner!) And I was even blessed to be given an Oreck for review! I AM grateful for how God has blessed my blog and offered some neat things to my readers. I just like that it’s sporadic, spontaneous and non-committal long term. ha!
Love it! I agree with you here. Not that my blog has the same purposes, but I do agree!
And that’s funny about the soup.
Tee hee.
All of us should just be who we are…on our blogs…and in our lives! When I was a young mother, people didn’t blog…and we didn’t even have computers for that matter…but there were other things going on our lives that kept us busy.
My friends and acquaintances kept busy doing stuff, and joining clubs and ladies groups etc….but even back then I chose to not follow after everyone else…but just to be myself….a happy little mother to my three children, and a wife and home-keeper. I took time to play with my children too…and I LOVED it!
I can’t re-live those days, except in my heart and mind…but if I could have do-overs I would do it the same way. Spending time with my kids was my favorite thing ever! (They didn’t homeschool kids back then either….but if I could have done that I would have!)
So don’t you worry your curly, little, head over what those super bloggers are doing…just continue to be you Lynnette! That is quite enough! And you are quite a blessing to your home, husband, children, and family…as well as to your blog followers. You amuse us…and make us giggle…as well as giving us things to ponder from time to time. You are a fun gal…and I love your free spirit…you wild stallion you! Yup…just be yourself Lynnette Suzanne…you are exactly how God wants you to be.
XXX”s and OOO’s
Momma
Amen Sister Momma!
I’m not worried… sometimes I just feel like I’m pretending like when I was a little girl and I get a blogging complex. You know me – a little insecure now and then on the surface, but deep down I really just want to be myself.
Love you my sweet momma.
Lynnette… I adore your blog. It is all those things you described and more. Just ask yourself… would you be able to offer all that you do if you blogged daily and guest blogged everywhere? Some people can and do.. I admire them. Your blog is all you and that is what I love. I do not read every blog I follow every day. How could I? But I know that anytime I come to yours it will make me smile!
Oh you are sweet sweet sweet sweet! And you just made me smile back!
Hugs to you, you sweet thing you!
Love,
Lynnette
Completely agree with you! You are awesome!!
You made me smile just now. No, seriously, you did.
Love you Kel!
Lynnette
Lynnette I am really surprised to read this post. Not that I’m surprised at how and why you blog, but that you are HUMAN like I am and that you feel these crazy feelings about other blogs!
I can’t lie, your blog is one of my very favorites to read and keep up on – you make me laugh, your photos are beautiful (if only I could learn to use my camera out of ‘auto’ mode!), your words are so encouraging and uplifting! You are an amazing blogger and I love checking out what thoughts come from your curly head!
Love you!
Yeah, VERY HUMAN! ha! The deep, heart felt stuff isn’t what gets me – it’s the surface insecurities that sort of sit between my eyeballs sometimes. When I see bloggers talking about all the people they met at blog conferences and how wonderful their sponsors were, I think – Oh my gosh, I wouldn’t even know how to get a sponsor! ha ha!
I’m so thankful for your sweet spirit Kami…and your ability to leave comments that make me glad I blog.
Love,
Lynnette
We love you just the way you are….the way you blog thrills us, encourages us, makes us think, blesses us….and we don’t want you any other way! K? Just sayin’….that’s all!
Love you!
Everything you say just makes me smile.
Love you Lisa!
Lynnette
I like your reasons for blogging! It’s easy to get caught up in the “bigness” of it all, instead of just enjoying blogging for what it is and the reasons I want to blog.
I love the picture of the rocks in the jeans pocket!
Lynette, I saw sweet Carissa comment on your blog entry on FB and decided that I needed to stop by. I’m so glad I did. I’ve had such fun browsing your blog and reading your entry today. I so agree with what you said. I am nothing in the blogging world comparitively speaking but I so enjoy it and that’s really all that matters. And, the best part is that I do it for myself and if someone else benefits then that is icing on the cake. I do try and to encourage along the way and hopefully my entries are a blessing to some and bring a smile to others. It’s so nice to meet you Lynette and blessings abundant to you.
I enjoy and appreciate just how your blog is, YOU! I also really like the picture of the Bible with the bokeh and sun flares!
Those blogger don’t do it without some amount of sacrifice. Look at the smiling faces on your post- somethings aren’t worth sacrificing. It’s all about priorities.I’d like to have sponsors. I’d also like to make an income from blogging, but family comes first.
Blessings, Patrice
Amen and again.
I just wish I could make myself blog period!
I enjoy doing it, but just can’t make myself make the time for it. I sides love reading yours though!!
I echo the thoughts of those who commented before! This blog is special, because it runs on the inspiration and individuality of one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. You.
Thanks for always being who you are and not subscribing to stereotypes that would only water you down. Love you, momma!
Ditto – I don’t know how some blog-mommas do it! Sometimes I think that they live in a time warp where they have 34 hours in their day instead of 24!!! I just had to stop blogging – I always felt like I was struggling to keep my head above water just with things on the homefront (still do most days!), so blogging just had to go so that my kids could have clean underwear! Ha!
I love how unique you are, Miss Lynnette! You always remind me to just be me – the unique person that God created me to be!
I with you! I love to keep up with my little blog but I can’t imagine doing anymore than random little posts about family life and things that inspire me. I really don’t care that much about ever being a “big blogger” or making it my identity. I just like to shine a little light out of my rather chilly corner of the world
Your blog is amazing and my absolute favorite. Don’t change a thing! I love your sense of humor, seeing the pictures of your amazing family, your insights, your photographs, and just hearing about your day to day life. Your blog is real. Your writing is honest. And seeing the smiles on your family’s faces shows that whatever your doing is working!
DO NOT CHANGE! We love you like you are! You make us laugh, you make us cry, and yet you remind me of God’s love and how he cares for us!
You would think I have more time to blog since I have retired? YA right! I like to read blogs and write when there are things in my life that I don’t want to forget.
So the soup was not wonderful? Love you. Do not change!
The “purpose of your blog” is the exact reason why I read it! I love hearing about the ups and downs of your real life and your real kids! I like seeing that your house is not perfect and you’re not trying to DIY everything all the time! I like that you have a heart for God and a desire to impart that into your kiddos all the time in many different ways! I love that you are unique because you make me feel “normal”!
Thanks so much for your blog, Lynnette! You rock!
LOL! loved that last part of your post…
and yes, I agree. I just can’t make myself into anything but a good old family blogger! Something funny… I had to claim the Schwinn bikes on our taxes this year and our accountant said, “Well, I’ve never seen a blogger make money like this before. What do you blog about?” I don’t know what he was expecting but I sheepishly said, “well, I blog about us? our family?” lol
I wonder how they do it too! When I was blogging to update people about my daughter, it was easier because I would be pumping in the middle of the night or early in the morning or waiting in the waiting room to see her so it was relatively easy to find the time. Now that I am back to “normal” (ha!) I think about things all the time I’d like to blog about and cannot find the time!!!
Haha! I love the type of bloggers who do this. It’s fun to just hear a person let loose and tell you their random thoughts at the moment.
hugs,
~bree
I love your blog. It inspires me, makes me laugh, challenges me, I’ve cried a tear or two. I wouldn’t have you any other way. We are only to be who God created us to be, and that includes in our blogging. You are doing a wonderful job and have touched many!
Thankfully, there is room for all of us in the blogosphere. You are always a breath of fresh air to me! We have to just be ourselves and appreciate the opportunity to share with others..I am so thankful for the internet!
I love you and your blog just the way it is!
Lynnette,
I did it twice today alone!
And I’m not partial like Kyle rightly is!
I haven’t commented in a little while, but I find myself talking about you to others as I would about a friend I hang out with in person and know well.
You have an amazing ability to bridge the gap, that cool-impersonable-ness of technology, making your readers feel welcome and befriended. I think it’s a gift!
Be encouraged!
Blessings!
~Monica
I’m late in commenting (so sorry!) but I just wanted to agree with the previous comments and say that your blog is my fav to read because you are uniquely YOU! I always look forward to your posts because they are written from your heart.
Love you guys
-maria
P.S. I just love your picture of the Bible with the sun shining. Wow it’s soo beautiful!!
I’m late commenting too, but oh, just so enjoyed this post! Keep being YOU! Have a wonderful Easter week and blessings to you!
This is a timely post. I almost never visit other people’s blogs because 1- I feel like if I am spending time reading a blog it needs to have some value that will improve my walk with the Lord or make me a better wife and mother. 2- I simply don’t have time to blog and read blogs 3- I feel as if the Lord has a purpose for my blogging and so I need to make sure I keep my focus there and not lost in fluffy blogs. when I have time, though, I always enjoy a little visit here.
