*Some of you got a sneak preview of the Blog Party because I had a Brain Fart and somehow posted it without knowing on Sunday night. It was up for about 8 minutes. It even went through to all of my email subs. Maybe I was just a little too excited!
WELCOME TO THE THOUGHTS OF SPRING {BLOG PARTY}!
Let the party begin!
If you need instructions on how to join in on the blog party fun, or want to access the list of questions I’ve provided to get the conversation started, please go to the original blog party post by clicking here: Announcing the 2011 Thoughts of Spring Blog Party!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Lynnette Kraft. I’ve been keeping this blog since July 2008. Not only do I love blogging, but I’ve also made some wonderful Chums here. If you’d like to know more about me, my hubby, our 6 living children, our 3 children in heaven, my books, or my love for Jesus, please feel free to use my menu bar to click around this Kraft territory!

And In case you wondered (and you probably didn’t). Here are some more tidbits about me…
How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right?
Spastic. And that would be correct most of the time, however I am a dead head on occasion too.

What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life?
Rhett and Link First of all, I must admit, I’m not the type to get Star-Struck. I would be content to stand off in the distance – however, I, and my family, have grown quite attached to Rhett and Link. They are like part of the family. They seem more tangible, so I might (would) get giddy if I saw them. LOL! In fact, we might head to Oklahoma on March 8th to meet them (they are traveling through to CA). Yep, just might!

Are you a hopeless romantic?
Yes and No. Kyle is less romantic overall, but he doesn’t feel stupid when he is being romantic. I adore old fashioned, romantic movies, but as soon as Kyle does something hopelessly romantic, I blush and giggle. Totally can’t take him seriously.
What is your comfort food/drink?
Drink: DEFINITELY coffee! (and if you already know me you just said, DUH!) Food: Beef and Noodles (with homemade egg noodles)

Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself.
I’ve posted about this before (and been teased mercilessly) but I LOVE DREADS!!! (But only on the right heads – HA!)

What is your greatest fear or strange phobia?
I do have some real fears but don’t feel like talking serious stuff today…
Weird phobia: The main theme score from the movie Halloween totally freaks me out. I watched that HORRIBLY FRIGHTENING movie when I was a teenager (not with my mom’s permission – Heathen Sneaker – and that song has haunted me ever since! Unfortunately it’s the ONE everybody plays on the radio and on TV on Halloween. I plug my ears and loudly say La La La.
Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres?
BBC Dramas, Documentaries (Adore both of them!) My newest BBC purchase was:
It is a 7 part series that is SO GOOD!
Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material?
Biographies and True Stories. I enjoy a novel now and then (especially Jane Austen), but I love testimonies and exciting true stories! Favorites are (okay, so one is mine, but hey, how can my story not be a favorite, right? lol): AND DUH! I had to come back and edit because I forget about my favorite favorite books. I ADORE children’s books! More. Than. ANYTHING. Sweet stories and perfect illustrations just do something to my soul!
Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types?
Classical, Film Score and Alternative are what I listen to most – some jazz (I love Melody Gardot). My absolute favorite music is written by: Jared Kraft (and it’s not just because he’s my son)
What movie or book character can you most relate to?
I think somewhere between Mia Thermopolis from Princess Diaries and Caroline Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie. What a combination huh? LOL! (If you didn’t already know I was weird, you do now! ha!)
Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul).
I… I… I… gosh, I just thought of 3! That fast! I’ll just admit to one big fat one today, I love sweets! I don’t eat them much (because I’m also a healthy eating advocate), but if sugar wasn’t so bad for me, I’d eat it all the time!
If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go?
Warm. All. The. Time. (and not a lot of rain) Perhaps Cancun or Jamaica?
If it ever becomes a real option, I’ll pick the perfect place and let you know.
What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of?
Besides coffee? How about dishwasher soap. Strange but true.
When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or You would have talked less?
Sometimes I wish I would have shut up, but almost never do I wish I would have talked more. I’m not a mega lip flapper, but I can totally get into a good conversation!
If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in?
Thrift stores and Health food stores. That’s about it.

What are your favorite animals?
Anything wild is by far the coolest, but as far as animals I could HAVE, I’d say: My dog (not all dogs), and useful animals that give back: dairy goats, and chickens. (I’ve had both. Still have chickens)

It was nice getting to know YOU a bit more, Lynnette! Love all the fun photos you included — and I’m seriously loving those chickens! I’m not a big animal person at all, which makes it funnier to me. You could make a calendar with your sunset photos — but not one of those cheesy ones (unless you’re talking “epic” cheese kinda ones…) And if I had more time, I would SO go thrifting. It’s a little bit hard to thrift when it’s -8 below though…;) And that beef and noodles is making me HUNGRY, which isn’t good, because it’s 12:15 at night. Or in the morning. Y’know. And a little bitty kinda “confession”, if you will, but I’ve had mini “dread-like-things” before. Because of not brushing my hair out after taking my bun out after ballet. They’re only in the back of my head and it ends up being this big ‘ol dreadlock-ish knot. It’s a pain to comb out. But long story short…your house looks like the house that I’d love to have someday! Love your big, beautiful fam!
Would write more, but I’m falling asleep right now.
Love,
–Blubless.
What a great idea for a blog party!! I am SO ready for spring!!
I like dreads, too
Hello. I just became a follower in the last day or two, and I LOVE your blog! This is a FUN way to get to know people: thank you for hosting this. Love what you wrote here, your fun personality shines through. Loved what I read earlier, too, about your life and losses; you are the real deal, and you’ve let God shine through your life. You’ve been a SUPER encouragement to me today. Thank you.

I loved getting to learn more about you, the pictures of your house, barn, and family are all gorgeous. Thrift stores are the absolute best, they make my heart race and my hands sweaty when I find a “perfect” item for under $5, it’s an amazing feeling. haha. I just added the downtown abbey series to my netflix queue, I look forward to watching it since you recommended it!
Oh and I’m obsessed with dreads too, I wish I was ballsy enough to dread my own head though. lol.
Anyways, Thanks for hosting this little blog party, you are AMAZING. I can’t wait to see what the party consists of tomorrow!
This was fun to read.
My mom had dairy goats and chickens and would love to have them again. They are so friendly!
mia from princess diaries and caroline ingalls! I love that!!
thanks for fixing my entry. I went to bed and asked Jeremy to link me up. He woke me up to tell me that he didn’t think he did it right LOL.
Already knew some of this but always good to know more. The 5 acres explains why you don’t have to worry about neighbors like my previous ones…
Hi Lynnette!
Very nice post and party!!! I like that same store, but it’s been years since I was in that neck of the woods.
My Mom and me would go there and shop, shop, shop. Such fun. There’s also one in Hillsboro, Kansas that I’m missing. Going to have to make a special trip to get my fix.
I’ll have to join this party later as I am on the run today.
Gorgeous sun! Lovely family and homelife on the farm! Also you have a sweetie for a Momma!
Sweet blessings to you,
d from homehaven
Lynnette love the idea of a spring blog party. I linked my direct post to my website. However, I didn’t know you were going to undertake all the questions you threw out there. I only picked one. Sorry! Oh well, my posts will be dedicated to one of these each day. BTW, I love your home in Kansas. It’s so beautiful! Thanks for including!

Hey Lynn,
This was fun to read. Sorry I can’t join in, I’ll be going out of town soon. Hey, I love those guys, they are so funny. I had not heard of them before. Have a blessed day♥
[...] it was time to come back and post something a little extra special. We’re joining in on the “Thoughts of Spring” blog party, hosted by our mom, Lynnette Kraft, at Dancing Barefoot on Weathered Ground. This means that we [...]
This is so fun!!! Thank you for hosting!
I love love love your home!! Will have to check out that thrift store next time I am visiting my Mom. Love a good thrift store!
I just found your blog a few days ago and it’s been fun to ‘get to know you’ with this party! Thanks for hosting!
That was fun to read! I loved all the pictures to go along with it!
Hi, Lynnette!
Your beef and noodles picture is totally making me think I should make some homemade noodles for tonight! I prefer chicken in mine, though. Yummy!
The Heavenly Man IS a great book! So inspiring to read the story of a man who truly lives for Christ, doing everything God asks him to do no matter what the cost. Wow.
The pictures of your house and barn make me want to live there.
Thanks for throwing this fun party and for stopping by my blog earlier! Have a blessed day in the Lord!
Love,
Angela
I am super excited about your Spring Blog Party….thanks for hosting.
Ha ha, I saw that brain fart! {I thought it maybe had something to do with the time glitch…but then realized it was way more than 6 hourse}. I’ve linked up…but I had several other things to do and don’t have wonderful pics to go with my post. Looking forward to going visiting! Love ya sis.
Shoot, I keep forgetting to pick a tree when I post a comment…I’ll do it now!
BLOG OVERLOAD – it’s wonderful
Everytime I zip over and fall in love with a blog – I zip back and more have linked up……
WOOO HOOO!
So when I answered about shops, I only thought of clothing but I would now say health food stores and others as well. I should have read your post first. LOL.
Since you mentioned what types of books you like and you posted 2 missionary stories, may I suggest And the Word Came with Power if you have not read it yet. It is my favorite and I have reread it several times.
Thanks for hosting this hop.
Amy
First, where is that thrift store!?!? You’ve totally been holding out on me! haha Love your house, love your barn, love your family and love you!!!

I love learning more about you Lynnette. Your house is gorgeous! And I LOVE BBC movies as well. Every month my girlfriends and I get together for BBC movie night and we often watch the 7 series ones all in one night! I long to be a better thrifter. I walk in those stores and immediately get filled with anxiety! Of course the ones in my area aren’t very organized. Maybe that’s why!
Loving the party!
On the children books list, I took a literacy course last semester for my education minor and one that really got me was City Dog, Country Frog. So moving! Too bad children’s books are SO pricey!
It is so much fun getting to know the people behind the blogs. Thank you for this great opportunity.
Going to be visiting folks site tonight when I get home from work. Hope folks will visit me, as well.
Love you much, and this year is our year….I feel it inside!
Lisa
Oh I LOVE it when you do blog parties! Your answers are so fun that you posted.
I linked up as well!
This is so much fun Lynnette! Great idea! Funny, I said Mia Thermopolis too! I never would have thought that about you though!
Great photos
Lynnette, this is so fun! Loved reading your answers to your questions! I love a good thrift store as well, and now I’ve got to try to make home made egg noodles–those looked yummy. I got so caught up in writing my introduction, I ran out of time to answer the questions…I’ll have to get back to that. Now I’m going to go “meet” the other bloggers who are playing along–thanks so much for hosting this party!
I have been a blogomaniac…I’ve visited at least 25 of the partiers so far and look forward to checking more out in the coming days. I’m a people person – meaning I love to learn about new people…the more different the better! (Oh, yeah…pick a tree – I’m used to my gravatar just popping up). G’nite!
Visiting your blog party again today. I had such fun yesterday. Today, I’ve answered another of your questions. Hopefully, y’all will join me on my blog today!

Thanks so much for this blog party! It’s so fun!
I am going to have to go change my “starstruck” answer because when I saw that Lynnette Kraft actually posted a comment on MY blog, I almost passed out!!
Stephanie,
I had to hop on and tell you that your comment here had me and my kids laughing our heads off (not quite, but you know). I said, “If she could come and see my kitchen, she’d feel differently. My ugly kitchen has a way of keeping me very humble! HA HA HA!!! But I’ll have to admit, you did make me feel pretty important for just a wee moment. tee hee
Can I say I loooove you about now?
Have a lovely afternoon Stephanie!
Lynnette
It’s a true story! My husband and I were laying in bed watching TV, and my phone dinged that
I had mail. I picked it up, and saw that you had commented on my blog. I sat straight up in bed
and said, “NO WAY! OH MY! WOW!” My husband asked what was going on. I said, “Lynette Kraft
commented on MY blog!” He said, “Um…okay.” It took 20 minutes for my heart to quit beating fast.
Tell your kids you ARE famous!
Stephanie…YOU are adorable!!!!!
Have a great day!
Linda…(Lynnette’s mom)
This is such a great idea! I am so excited to participate.
xoxo,
Ms.Z.
Love your gorgeous pictures…love your gorgeous family…love your spastic, cute self…love your blog…and love you! =)
Thanks for hosting the fun blog hop!
Lynette ~ I replied on my blog but thought I would put it here as well.
I’m so honored and thrilled that you stopped by! No, haven’t had any marks left by birds. I just get pretty freaked out with their wings flapping around all out of control with no idea where they are going or what they are going to do. lol I’m from Wichita.
From birth until I left for college. I do come visit, my Mom still lives there. Oh! I would love to meet sometime.
Ohhh goodness! This is so awesome. Joining the party! <3
[...] I saw a link and a Q&A on Lindsay’s blog to a really cute party linkup, so I decided I would invite my self on over. In the process, it would be fun to “meet” some other bloggers and see what answers each one comes up with. If you’re interested in joining the party, head over here! [...]
i am so glad i found your blog and this party is SO FUN! i just got my link up “life experiences”. so excited to mingle!
Hi Lynette! What a great idea to prompt me to write something on my blog! I’ve linked up and started working my way backwards up the list and leaving comments on each one. Its great fun to read everyone’s answers and I’m picking up a few new blogs to follow along the way.
Lynette!!!
What FUN! I just finished my BLOG PARTY post on “a joyful mother…” …my blog, of course. Your questions were HARDER than I thought they would be! But it was fun to try and really dig deep and see what came out!
I hope I can link up with you on the McLinky thingy.
I love you, my dear!
Cheryl
Hi, Mrs. Kraft! I just found your blog through Farmgirlwrites.com, and joined in the party.
Thanks for hosting this!
Blessings,
~Hannah Grace
I might just have to join in on the fun!
What a fun entry. Great photos as well! I’m next for sure!!
what a beautiful sunrise! It was great to meet you
thanks for hosting!
Thank you for hosting this! My little sister told me about it and we’re joining the fun. Sometimes, like when you like a bit out from town and you don’t get there very often, and when you do you almost always spend the entire time running errands, virtual parties are the way to go!
The food isn’t quite as good…
WOW! I entered and then 10 seconds later, 7 other people entered! Your very popular! Your blog is amazing you deserve it! Com visit my blog sometime! dezzysblogerificblog.blogspot.com
Lynnette, you have Bruce Olson’s book BRUCHKO featured in your post!! When I first read that fantastic book, its title was the very unusual, For This Cross I’ll Kill You. It was one of those books that made me “go deeper” into my walk with the Lord. Loved every one of your photos and thanks for the lovely Spring Party. Lots of fun reading so many fun and interesting posts.
The link to my website is bad in the blog party entries list. Some how an extra http:// and a “S” got added in. Is there any way you can delete that one so I can put a new one up? Thanks! SO Sorry.
Mmmm homemade egg noodles. Yum yum!! I know I could def go for living some place warm! Oceans and beaches nearby would be a plus! Feels nice to be back round your parts! Life has been busy and haven’t been around as much.
Loved your post, Lynnette. Too much fun!!
Yeah, I think I’d die if I met Rhett and Link. They are the personification of hilarity.
Them and you, dear.
Okay, I was just reading over the rules again, and you mentioned that we were supposed to leave a comment with the urls of the blogs we visited. I didn’t realize that before, and I’ve kind of been hopping around without any system whatsoever. I know I’ve visited at least five, though. Is that okay? Or do I need to try to find five that I visited? Thanks!!
It was nice to get to know you more! Thanks for hosting this awesome blog party! I just linked up.

Lynnette! I always love your posts–even though I’ve been reading for while you manage to make me smile and lift my spirits to Jesus. Thank you! I’m so excited to be linking up for this partay!
Thanks so much for putting together this blog party! As a new blogger, it has been fun for me to blog hop and see what all I can really do with this! I enjoyed reading your post! I’m sure I will be a frequent visitor!
Have a great week!
